Kirsty won the gold for swimming for Zimbabwe. A country that does not recognize or give her the full privileges of citizenship because she is white. She is at least a 3rd generation Zimbabwean but all this does not matter because Zimbabwe is at the moment under a corrupt regime that kills white Zimbabweans and takes their farms from them claiming they are racist colonialist pigs who need to go back where they came from.
I have pasted the real sentiments of real Zimbabweans both black and white below with the exception of those of the government. Kirsty's win is a slap in the face to what they are trying to portray to the rest of the world. We Zimbabweans are one...our government isn't it is neither with us nor for us. We think Kirsty is a hero, she should have buildings and streets named after her. The government is yet to decide what they think about Kirsty.
What so you think as a global citizens who cares about underdog countries that are obscure and at the end of the alphabet? I understand you are busy counting the medals you all have earned so far. We have won 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. These medals play a big part in the possible shift of the political situation in my country...if only people are open to doing whats right.
