Extra lessons
Chinese kids are always taking lessons- Its like a yoga or fat free ice cream fad that wont go away. From music lessons, math lessons, karate classes..Parents make sure kids are busy- In china, parents don’t have stories about car pools and cake sales. They compete on a more complicated and different level of hours and hours spent in a school waiting room- yes they have those-the number of classes they can squeeze into an 8 hour Saturday and how many foreign teachers they have seen come and go at a certain “acclaimed” English School..(It’s the best in the province..they really teach English!) Every Saturday and Sunday as well as weeknights grand mas and grand pas are dragged from class to class by their charges. Those who dreamt of playing Mah Jiong till their fingers calloused and perfecting their Tai Chi skills in their retirement now look forward to healthy excercise of shuttling kids twice their speed and a quarter of their age from class to class and the possibility of picking up an English word or two…HAILLOW!!!!
