It's 4am in China. I haven't seen my country for 2 years..but I saw it live tonight..in Greece among other countries like Qatar, Sudan, Iraq, USA. There was Zimbabwe, proud and colorful, all of us, black, white and colored(please dont comment on this word use..its what we call biracials in my country and its not derrogative) Zimbabweans.

It made me so proud to be Zimbabwean I danced and almost cried...and there I was at 3 in the morning with my friends from Bolivia, Lesotho, Canada, Australia in China, with other Chinese. Our own little Olympics of tolerance.

Tolerance..that's waht the olympics mean to me...the one time where we all get along and keep the bickering, drama and shit locked up.

I've never been at peace with the world as I am right now...and I will hold on to the charade...even if it only lasts through the olympics.

Oh...that and the Greek guys are really hot!!

What did you think of the opening procession?

Haven't seen it yet...it won't be broadcast here for another four hours....but I'm waiting for it anxiously.

Well worth the wait I am telling you, its beautiful, tasteful and all the athletes are beautiful...it was worth losing sleep for!

Texas: Thanks! What did you think about it?

Ps: I forgot to mention I was with another friend from Brazil...he also went crazy! When he saw his flag...God bless him

Unfortunately, where I live in the U.S., my neighbors will probably set off fireworks, shotguns, airhorns, car horns, etc when the U.S. team is featured.

Ahh, the perils of living in a hick town.

i got to see a little bit of it early cuz pbs here carries the evening bbc world news.  seeing the full rebroadcast here was wayyyy better.  i was really concerned they might not be ready (i worried we wouldnt be either when we hosted the 84 games) in addition to the individual national procession pageantry and the fireworks, the pantheon theme and the minoans were incredibly well done.

I've never been at peace with the world as I am right now

im happy for you and im fairly confident i know what you mean.

watch out for those greek guys tho...unless theyre bearing metaxa or ouzo, of course

For a moment I thought you said:
"Ahh, the penis of living in a hick town."

I was a little confused.

I should probably get some sleep.

I saw everything on national tv the exact same time that was happening!
The good thing to be Greek these days
It makes me SO VERY HAPPY to see that people from other countries enjoyed it, too.

I wonder what the famous american hicks understood of it ...
At least, did anybody bother to tell them that "No, Bjiorg DID NOT sing in Las Vegas the other night"?

I didn't really watch the opening ceremony. I have been glued to the TV to watch the Olympics since though, and I pretty much think sport is a waste of time.

Here's a song for you:

All the children of the world should be
Loving the world wholeheartedly

Tell your brother who is killing the world
That hate won't do

Cause we're all the same
Cause the blood inside of me is inside of you

'Can You Feel It?' The Jacksons

Peace out

Eimarmemi: thats awesome for you!! I envy you, my country is too small and too poor to host..but I will be in China for 2008. That should be something!!! I have seen all the disciplines that have Chinese people in them...no the media here is not one sided!!! So am a little tired of the crying and the gold medals..although..my country did win a gold for 200m girls backstroke!! I was dancing like an idiot at the club I was at when I saw it and everyone thought I had really lost it when I kept yelling and grabbing people telling them..thats my country!!!

honky chateau: I have been glued too for 7 days because i had nothing else better to do at camp but now I am a little tired of it although I am excited because its part of history and I will always know where I was during 2004 olympics and I know who wang yifu is.

Kingbee: I am back!! its about time too!! I feel like I missed a lot and I don't want to admit it because I dont want to be labeled an addict..but I missed blogging and the people here!! Especially the guy whose wife is leaving him. Thats the first blog I read...poor guy. Thanks for the img site!!! talk to you soon!
